Meet Adrian Sugars

Founder of The Burnout to Brilliance
Adrian Sugars

After more than two decades in the 24/7 world of hospitality, I know firsthand

What it feels like to give everything you’ve got and still feel like it’s never enough

Arriving early and staying long after everyone else went home was my norm. I believed exhaustion was the price of excellence.

One day, while conducting a training workshop, I felt a sharp pain in my side. I took a quick break to grab a few Tylenol, but fifteen minutes later, I was still on break, bent over in excruciating pain, while my colleague had to finish the class. That was just one of many episodes fueled by stress and overextension.

The biggest wake-up call came a few years later, returning from a brand conference where my team and I had just delivered a stellar breakout session. After all the planning, long nights, and nonstop preparation, I boarded my flight home and passed out mid-air.

My body had decided what I hadn’t: it was time for something to change.

And, as any working mom knows, mom life alone can send you straight into the stress zone. Add a demanding career on top, and you’ve got a perfect storm for burnout. That plane ride became my turning point. I had to be present for my daughter. I didn’t know exactly what I needed yet, but I knew the old way of leading from depletion had to end. It took years to realize I’d been operating in a chronically stressed-out zone.  Yes, I did say years.

Fast forward to today, and I’ve built a career helping hospitality leaders think differently. Always the “go-to” person,

I now help others recognize and break that same cycle – transforming constant stress into sustainable strength.

Your exhaustion isn’t permanent and it can be reversed. You don’t have to spend another week, month, or year overwhelmed. You’re exactly why The Burnout to Brilliance was created.

My passion for coaching and consulting is grounded in real-world hospitality leadership. I’ve lived the pressure of brand audits, guest satisfaction targets, revenue goals, managing teams, and endless to-do lists. But I’ve also experienced the power of boundaries, balance, and recovery. My colleagues once joked, “Don’t call Adrian after 6 p.m. — she’s already in bed.” They weren’t wrong. I’d learned that real leadership starts with protecting my own well being.
